Full course description

Module Description:

Tests are a common part of our educational landscape and are often gatekeepers for access to advanced training or job placement. Academic test results can determine whether a student is promoted, graduated, or accepted to a technical college or university. Employers may rely on tests to determine an individual’s qualifications for hiring or promotion, and licensing bodies often issue or deny professional licenses and certifications based on test results. Deaf people often face obstacles to fair and equitable testing. Test Equity for Deaf Students module introduces issues and concerns with testing deaf students, common accommodations for testing, and considerations for improving test equity for deaf students.

Learning Objectives - Participants will be able to:

    • Identify key issues to consider when administering tests to deaf individuals.

    • Identify accommodations to consider when administering tests to deaf individuals.

    • Describe how accommodations can improve test equity for deaf students
