Module Description: Assistive Listening Devices and Systems are a type of auxiliary aid schools, colleges, and training programs can make available for deaf students for acoustic access. Assistive Listening Devices and Systems can be used in classrooms and settings across the campus and can greatly increase accessibility and engagement for some deaf students. This one-hour module will provide participants with information to increase their awareness of and knowledge about Assistive Listening Devices and Systems, as well as, key considerations for implementation and use by consumers in postsecondary settings.

 

 

Learning Objectives: By the end of this module, participants will be able to: 

 

  • Describe types of assistive listening devices and systems. 
  • Summarize institutional and student responsibilities regarding the use of assistive listening devices and systems.
  • Implement person-centered practices that foster a collaborative partnership in creating accessible experiences for deaf people.
