Module Description:

This one-hour module provides an overview of fundamental concepts important in creating access for deaf people to participate in available programs and services in postsecondary settings.

In this module, you will increase your knowledge and awareness of key concepts including reasonable accommodations, effective communication, and different types of accommodations. The information in this module will provide you with a foundation for future accommodation planning and conversations.

Learning objectives - Participants will be able to:

  • State the key components of providing effective communication access for deaf individuals.
  • Define the term “accommodation.”
  • Identify some common accommodations deaf people use.
